Ricardo Bitrán Dicowsky is a Chilean visual artist that works with watercolor, ink, oil and mixed media. Among some of his series of paintings and drawings, there is a meticulous anatomical study of the coastal rocks and mountain range of central Chile; an exploration of his genealogy through various pictorial techniques; and a series of portraits based on photographs of inmates from different times and places.
In 1984 he attended a Human Figure class at the School of Arts from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and in 1985 and 1986 he was a student of the Color Theory Series of Lectures at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, USA. Between the years 2000 and 2002 he was part of the Fine Arts Studio Mentorship by Eugenio Dittborn and later, between 2003 and 2006 he deepened his drawing and painting techniques under the guidance of the artist Eduardo Garreaud.
He has exhibited his work in solo exhibitions at Harvard Coop and Abt Associates Inc, both in Cambridge, Massachusetts; at the Gallery from the Inter-American Bank in Washington, D.C.; and at the Corporación Cultural from Las Condes and from Ñuñoa in Santiago, Chile. In addition, he has been part of several group exhibitions, including shows at the National Biennial of the Fine Arts Museum, Chile; the Academy of Fine Arts, Chile; the Rochester Contemporary Art Center, US and the CCU Art Gallery, Chile.
He has been awarded the First Prize Artists' Guild Holliston, 1992, Boston USA; the First Prize Pastel Category, 2000 and the Second Prize Watercolor Category 1999, both by the National Society of Fine Arts, Santiago, Chile; the Third Prize in the Contemporary Painting Competition, 2008. Furthermore, in 2004 he received the First Prize in the Art Contest, Bank of Boston, USA.
His works can be found in private collections in Chile, the United States, Canada, Mexico, Portugal, and Lebanon.
Ricardo Bitrán Dicowsky es un economista y artista visual chileno que utiliza acuarela, tinta, óleo y técnicas mixtas para desarrollar sus proyectos pictóricos. Sus series incluyen, entre otras, un minucioso estudio anatómico de las rocas costeras de la región central de Chile; una exploración de su genealogía; paisajes de diversos lugares del mundo; y retratos basados en fotografías provenientes de distintas épocas y lugares.
Estudió artes visuales en Chile y en el extranjero. En 1984 fue alumno del curso Figura Humana en la Facultad de Artes de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile y en los años 1985 y 1986 estudió Color Theory en la School of the Museum of Fine Arts en Boston, EEUU. Entre los años 2000 y 2002 participó del Taller de Pintura del artista plástico Eugenio Dittborn y posteriormente, entre 2003 y 2006, se perfeccionó bajo la enseñanza del artista Eduardo Garreaud.
Ha mostrado su trabajo en exposiciones individuales en Harvard Coop y en Abt Associates Inc., ambas en Cambridge, Massachusetts; en la Corporación Cultural de Las Condes; en la Galería del Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo en Washington, D.C.; en la Comunidad Israelita de Santiago; y en la Corporación Cultural de Ñuñoa. Realizó una muestra extensa de sus paisajes en la Sala CCU junto con las obras del Arzobispo de Concepción, Fernando Chomalí. También ha participado en exposiciones colectivas, incluyendo la Bienal Nacional del Museo de Bellas Artes, la Academia de Bellas Artes, Rochester Contemporary ArtCenter, la 41st International Exhibition de San Diego Watercolor Society; Ha sido galardonado en Boston con el First Prize Artists’ Guild Holliston 1992; por la Sociedad Nacional de Bellas Artes con el Primer Premio Categoría Pastel, 2000; Segundo Premio Categoría Acuarela 1999; Tercer Premio Salón Pintura Contemporánea 2008. Adicionalmente el año 2004 recibió el Primer Premio del Concurso de Arte, Banco de Boston EEUU. Sus obras se encuentran en colecciones privadas en Chile, Estados Unidos, Canadá, México, Portugal y Líbano.
